Mornin' Lovin'

Because Isaiah is going to a new school this year (and because of Elkhart changing everything in the school system including start times) he has to get up at the ridiculous hour of 6:45am to be ready and out of the house by 7:15am. So far it hasn't been a problem (thank God!) and this morning was precious. I was already up feeding Quinn so I went to wake up Isaiah and he wanted Quinn to cuddle with him. I put Quinn beside Isaiah and he automatically turned on his side and wrapped his arm around Isaiah's face. It was priceless and absoutely endearing.

The Tongue

Quinn's newest discovery is his tongue. It is quite hilarious so I thought I would post a couple of the tongue in action...

Pointless Interviews

So I wasted much of my day today on a completely pointless interview and left just frustrated enough to feel like crying.

A long story short...I went on this interview with the gut feeling that it wasn't the position I applied for. It was a group interview, I asked to make sure it was for the postion I wanted and no one would give me an answer. I went because I can't really afford to not take the chance. I had to find a sitter for Quinn, had to drive a 1/2 hour each way and then sat through the first hour thinking I needed to figure out a way to get out of there without being rude or disrespectful. I knew more and had more experience than the lady interviewing all of us that was fresh out of college and has never worked in this environment. Argh.

Anyway, I was finally able to make my escape politely, drove home complaining to Eric and wondering why I want to work at all. Then I realized...I don't. I don't want to go back to work. I have learned how to define myself as a stay-at-home mom. I miss Isaiah now that he is in school and I enjoy Quinn (when I get sleep). But...alas, I must continue to search since as of yet, no one has offered to support us. :) One more year of school for Eric and then maybe I can again reconsider. Best said by Megan...Sigh. Sigh.

Boy-less vacation!

Four days until I leave for Florida...getting more and more excited. I will be childless (I will miss them), I will get to sleep through the night and I will be laying in the hot sun on the beach doing nothing with my dear friend Chris. How wonderful does that sound?

2nd Grade!!

Today was the day my baby entered 2nd grade. Contrary to what I hear most parents say, I was a little more saddened to see him go after staying home with his this summer. I will miss the days with him.
This year came with a twist...long story short...we were okay with the current school Isaiah goes to but it only goes to second grade and in third he will go to a different school which Eric and I will NOT allow him to go to. Last minute (and I mean 4 days beforehand) we found out Isaiah was approved for a transfer to another elementary school. Sheesh. Nothing like a little frantic-ness to start off the year.
Isaiah and I walked through the school yesterday, met his teacher and of course had to check out the gym and library. Another change was that Isaiah will now ride a bus. He was nervous this morning and worried he wouldn't make any friends.
I picked him up this afternoon and he announced "I did like you told me. I was brave." He then informed me that he liked his teacher although she was meaner than he thought she would be, he made two friends (he can't remember either name of course) and his new gym teacher talked too much. Whew. I would say school started off just fine.

Small Group Madness

I know I have randomly mentioned our small group numerous times throughout my blog. Well, I finally remembered to bring my camera and can document these amazing people!

Through the summer we don't meet regularly but we do try to get together every month or so to keep connected. We decided on a cookout, hosted by Mike on his large, rambling, beautiful "farm." Acres of woods, trails, a pond and unending fun for the kids. We also have some pretty fabulous, unbelievable cooks in our group so occasions that call for food are wonderful things. :)

We spent the evening eating, talking, eating (yes more), some fishing and lots of young kids playing soccer and building forts and teenagers texting. I also decided to include a picture of the "jeep-transport-thingy" that sent me into labor during our last small group get together at Mike's! It isn't actually the same one...he traded the original one for several smaller ones that he is restoring but it is close enough to get the general idea. My joke was that after sending me into labor the last time, I didn't figure there was much that could top that kind of excitement!

Anyway, there are a ton of pics here but I didn't want to leave anyone or anything out so bear with the slideshow!

My Blue Eyed Babe

Just for fun...he was too cute not to take pictures of while I was the un-professional photographer for Kids Peace Camp (more on that to come later).

Joys of Summer

Although I randomly freak out about still not having a job, I am now able to see the greatness of being home with the boys this summer. One of the things we have enjoyed is swimming at our commuinity pool...it's cheap and is only two summers old. We haven't been there in awhile since it really hasn't been very warm but this week shaped up to be a pretty good one. Quinn and I opted not to get in this time since we went late in the afternoon but in the past we have also enjoyed the water...Isaiah took his friend Landon along and they had a great time using up all their energy for a couple of hours. Aren't they handsome!?!? :)

Dave Matthews

This past weekend E and I had a kid-free day/evening thanks to the Fabulous Andrea! We went to Deercreek (I believe now known as the Verizon Center) in Indy to a Dave Matthews concert. We drove up early to meet friends and hang out before the show (a little tailgatin'). The slightly obsessessed DMB fan, Kevin (love, love Kevin and no judgment :) ) had VIP parking so we met up there with Paula, Scott, Dori, Tom, Jeff and Kevin. (We missed Kevin's wife Jen who is large with child and expecting anytime now...okay three weeks but still...who's counting, right Jen?) Anyway, beautiful weather for a concert, good seats and we enjoyed ourselves. Got home about 2:30 in the morning and by 3:00a Quinn was awake and rarin' to go! Shocker I know. :) It was actually okay since I was already up...it was the other two times he woke up after that that I wasn't feelin' :( All that said, thanks again Andrea for giving us a whole day away!

4 Months!

Quinn is 4 months today! And what a crazy ride. At his 4 month appointment he was 27 3/4 inches long (completely off the percentile chart) and weighs 16 lbs.13 oz (which is the 90th percentile). He is a rock solid babe!

He still does not sleep but Eric's version is that he is just "lovin' life." I can say that at least he is a happy awake baby...He smiles constantly and is pretty content as long as he isn't hungry!
He has started eating baby food...bananas and rice cereal so far. We can't seem to keep him full. :( He loves his jumper and being outside. He continues to talk and laugh (Isaiah can really get him going...I would love to know what Quinn is thinking with some of the stuff Isaiah does). He recently started trying to make sounds using P's and B's which is hilarious because he concentrates really hard to get them out.

Isaiah continues to be a wonderful, helpful big brother. I am not sure what I would do without him!
